We are back again this month with another exciting episode of Afritech Verified, the podcast where we speak to amazing individuals doing awesome things in the world of African tech.
On this month’s episode, our host, Towsyn Omowole spoke to a well known influencer in Africa’s technology ecosystem, Adewale Yusuf. He founded one of Africa’s top technology blogs - Techpoint Africa, and recently handed over the reins to start a company called TalentQL, a platform that allows companies to hire vetted and verified software developers from emerging markets.
Adewale started his professional life as a photographer and used his experience to create Techpoint using strong images to tell the amazing stories of the founders who he interviewed. It was during this time that he also got the idea for TalentQL. With over 1.2 billion people in Africa, over 60% being young people with immense talent, but a pervasive skills shortage, he saw an opportunity to help fill this talent gap. During our chat, he takes us through the vision of setting up a company which provides African tech talent to global companies as well as sharing his own experience with Techstars and why global accelerators are a great idea for startups.
Finally Adewale tells us more about his plans for driving TalentQL to unicorn status, building companies that can be independent of him, his hopes for African tech, and much more. From photographer to software developer to blogger to talent scout, Adewale is a truly inspiring and talented businessman. You don’t want to miss this episode. Listen to the full episode here.
