It’s another exciting episode of AfriTech Verified! In this month’s episode, our host, Tosin Omowole spoke to Suleman Sule, Director of Pharmacy Services at Field Intelligence, an African health tech company transforming the role of technology, business, and supply chain to improve healthcare systems in Africa. Suleman leads the Nigerian operations at Field with his 13 plus years of experience in Nigeria’s health sector. Field Intelligence was established in 2015 to help transform Africa’s healthcare systems. The company uses live practical data to build-out sustainable and efficient supply chains to improve healthcare access across Africa. From research in the field, the company has developed systems and tools for health workers to improve the quality of care for patients.
Suleman has been with Field Intelligence for over three years. Alongside his role as Director of Pharmacy Services, he holds the position of General Manager of Operations for the brand’s supply chain service, Shelf Life. Having worked in Nigeria’s health sector for over 13 years in various capacities, Suleman has built a passion for the sector and has contributed to wider regional projects, such as the community-based health insurance scheme project for the Ogun State Government & Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
During our chat, Suleman spoke about Field Intelligence, his career growth, and the inspiration behind his passion for the health sector. He also spoke about the potential for healthtech in Nigeria’s thriving tech ecosystem. Finally, he gave his thoughts on the challenges with running a supply chain business in Africa, as well as the differences between the Nigerian and Kenyan markets in service delivery and tech adoption. Field Intelligence works on some of the hardest, most important problems of our age, to build products and services that deliver access in frontier and emerging markets. The company is helping governments and businesses make good on the promise of healthcare, within the fastest-growing parts of the world. Led by two stand out products - Shelf Life (Next-generation pharma distributor serving a network of retail pharmacies with data-driven planning, fulfilment and finance solutions) and Field Supply (Supply Chain Management SaaS for emerging market health systems). Field Intelligence is supporting Africa’s small private pharmacies, which currently make up 80% of frontline care to Africa’s 1.4bn population, by providing technology-enabled tools for data, inventory and access to capital.
