The Five Biggest Tech Events in Africa this Year: Meet experts in AI, Cryptocurrency and more.3/14/2022
Africa, like most other continents, has seen a technological revolution over the past few years, catalysed by the recent pandemic that pushed us all into a more digital world. According to African Tech Startups Funding Report 2021, 564 tech companies in Africa received a combined total of over US$2 billion investment last year. On top of this, multinational tech companies like Google are investing millions of dollars into innovation in Africa. With this digital transformation well underway, it is important to keep up-to-date on the latest advancements. A great way to do this is by attending tech conferences. Here are the five biggest tech events that are occurring in Africa this year. 1. Blockchain Africa Conference, 17 - 18 March 2022 (virtual event) Blockchain Africa Conference is the perfect place to find out about the latest developments in the DeFi space- there will be plenty of talks about cryptocurrency and smart contracts. As well as this, experts will discuss how blockchain can be used to revolutionise other industries such as gaming and farming in Africa. The opportunities are endless. Digital Infra Africa 2022, 20 - 21 April 2022 (virtual event) Digital Infra, as the name suggests, is focused on bringing together people who contribute to the development and maintenance of digital infrastructure in Africa. Companies and individuals attending will include those who manage data, cloud, content services, and even some internet providers. These services are the backbone of a digital world, so optimising them will provide efficiency across all sectors from healthcare to finance. AI Conference South Africa, 18 - 19 May 2022 (Johannesburg, South Africa) The AI Conference will take place in Johannesburg. It will run from 9am to 4:30pm SAST each day. International Conference on Cybersecurity for Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems in Nigeria, 08 - 09 August 2022 (virtual event) This international conference will take place digitally, starting from 12pm WAT on 08 August. AI Expo in South Africa, 18 - 20 September 2022 (Johannesburg, South Africa) The AI Expo will take place in the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. The main event will be 19 - 20 September but there will be a VIP Opening Evening on the 18 September. It will be focussed on Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation and navigating the digital world in the 4th Industrial Revolution. Find out more here.
