StanLab is a 3D virtual laboratory application designed for students to learn and practise science experiments hands-on and in real-time. The inspiration behind its creation is the sheer lack of access to quality lab equipment for children who attend public secondary schools in Nigeria. Without the opportunity to practice experiments during lessons, children often have to imagine what the experiments would look like, rather than finding out for themselves. The Virtual Reality powered platform gives learners access to numerous STEM lessons, from any location, at a fraction of the cost of being in an actual classroom. There is also the additional benefit of conducting experiments without exposure to hazardous chemicals, while experiencing the real results of mixing different ingredients together. Founder Job Oyebisi says: “I have learned that when you build a company it’s not a solo effort. You need a group of smart people to help you build and scale. We would really love your support in winning this award so that we can further our work in enabling access to education for children in rural communities. Just imagine any child, especially in rural areas in Nigeria, can get access to the same lab or stem experience as a child in the UK. We believe everyone should have access to quality education, no matter their background. Quality education shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be open to everyone. Thank you!” Help the team win!
